We are very pleased to announce the official launch of a new website dedicated to providing atmospheric deposition data, which operates as part of the Air Quality portal. The new website is one of the outcomes of the project entitled “Strengthening of atmospheric deposition assessment in Poland based on Norwegian experience”, funded by the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2014–2021. The main objective of this project was to establish a modern system for monitoring the chemistry of precipitation in Poland that would provide comprehensive information on pollutants deposited to the ground, and to create a tool for presenting such data.

The new module of the GIOŚ Air Quality portal is available at https://powietrze.gios.gov.pl/depoz/. It can also be accessed from the Air Quality portal, after expanding Menu > Chemistry of precipitation. The website replaces the previous precipitation chemistry tab and presents a wide range of atmospheric deposition data, collected both by the new measurement system and the system  that operated until 2023, showcasing it in a modern, interesting and user-friendly way.

The new website features:

  • a search engine for measurement results, which can also be downloaded;
  • detailed information about the measurement network and the scope of research conducted at each station;
  • maps, showing the spatial distribution of precipitation pollutant loads and concentrations as well as precipitation levels, whose new design facilitates data analysis and interpretation;
  • information about the research program and methods;
  • thematic publications and papers.

If you are interested in precipitation chemistry and the burden of acidifying compounds, biogenic compounds and heavy metals deposited from the air on forest areas, soils and surface waters, we strongly recommend you visit our new website!
