On July 8, 2021, an on-line conference inaugurating the implementation of the project entitled "Strengthening of atmospheric deposition assessment in Poland based on Norwegian experience", financed by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021 (EEA FM 2014-2021) under the program "Environment, Energy and Climate Change", area "Mitigation of climate change and adaptation to its effects ”. The conference was opened by Mr. Marek Surmacz acting as Deputy Chief Inspector of Environmental Protection, the leading role was performed by Ms. Barbara Toczko - Deputy Director of the Environmental Monitoring Department at the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection (CIEP).
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the General Directorate of State Forests, the Polish Water Management Authority, numerous representatives of National Parks, and representatives of the scientific community, including Institute of Meteorology and Water Management - National Research Institute; Institute of Environmental Protection - NRI, Forest Research Institute, Institute of Environmental Engineering PAS, Institute of Geophysics PAS, University of Life Sciences in Poznań, Wrocław University of Technology, Rzeszów University of Technology. The Norwegian partner of the project was represented by the team of the Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU). The presentations given during the conference have been included as downloads at the bottom of the page.
The aim of the project is to create a modern precipitation chemistry monitoring system that provides as complete information as possible about the deposition of pollutants in Poland, made available through user-friendly tools. Planned effects of the project:
- creation of a new national system for measuring and modeling deposition in Poland, along with making data available on the "Air Quality" portal,
- increasing knowledge of atmospheric deposition assessment methods based on Norwegian experience through conferences and trainings,
- increasing knowledge in the field of measurement methods and assessments of atmospheric deposition based on the experience gained, among others during a study visit to Norway.
The project "Strengthening of atmospheric deposition assessment in Poland based on Norwegian experience" is implemented by the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection in cooperation with a Norwegian partner - the Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU), a pioneer in research on atmospheric precipitation chemistry in Europe.
